2025 Inauguration Ceremony of Community Initiative in Inclusion (CII)


















On Tuesday, 21st January, the inauguration ceremony of the Community Initiative in Inclusion (CII) 2025 course took place in Mumbai. This prestigious event marked a significant milestone in advancing community disability services across the Asia-Pacific region. Supported by The Women’s Council, the CII course is set to empower trainees and planners in the field of inclusive community development.
The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Mithu Alur, Founder and President of ADAPT (Able Disabled All People Together), who also serves as the course director for CII. Dr. Alur’s visionary leadership and decades-long dedication to promoting inclusion laid the foundation for this transformative initiative.
Adding further prestige to the event, the guest of honour, Dr. Suresh Advani, Chief Medical and Paediatric Oncologist at Jaslok Hospital, delivered an inspiring address. A trailblazer in the medical field, Dr. Advani’s contributions have significantly shaped healthcare practices in India.
The ceremony saw the traditional Lighting of the Lamp, symbolising hope and enlightenment. The participants also heard from Professor Sitanshu Mehta, Vice Chairperson of ADAPT and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Saurashtra.
Representing The Women’s Council, Chairman Rajni Rijal and Honorary Training Advisor Rachel Tainsh addressed the participants, offering words of encouragement and support.
TWC expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone at ADAPT for bringing this course to fruition for another year. They extended their best wishes to the participants of CII 2025, hoping they have an enriching and impactful learning journey over the next three months.
The inauguration brought together a diverse group of participants, including CII’s trainees, alumni and planners committed to fostering community disability services.
