A Stylish Return: TWC at Leighton House

On Wednesday, 3rd September, TWC members and friends gathered at Leighton House, Kensington, London, for a special ‘Back from Summer’ event. It was a delightful morning spent exploring one of London’s most atmospheric museums, followed by a warm and convivial get-together.
Leighton House, once the home of Victorian artist Frederic, Lord Leighton (1830–1896), is renowned for its opulent interiors and artistic heritage. Built in the mid-19th century, the house reflects Leighton’s fascination with classical art and Middle Eastern design. The highlight of the visit was the breathtaking Arab Hall, adorned with shimmering Islamic tiles, a golden dome, and intricate mosaics that transport visitors to another world. The museum also houses an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, and personal treasures, offering a glimpse into the life of one of Britain’s most celebrated painters.
Our President, Doris, The Lady Butterworth of Warwick, and Honorary Vice President Celia Brown, joined the event, with both of their presence making the occasion even more special. Members enjoyed reconnecting after the summer, sharing stories, and appreciating the beauty of the surroundings together.
It was a memorable morning filled with art, history, and friendship — a perfect way to step back into the season. Many thanks to our trustee Lamees for organising.
