A very successful Friendship event was to the Royal Albert Hall where our excellent guide showed the group some of the areas of the building not usually seen by the public, including the room used by the Royal Family. We heard about the history of the building and viewed the interior from the Royal Box as well as from the Gallery. She explained how the ground floor could be adapted for many different forms of entertainment, including ice skating, ballet etc. and entirely cleared for the Proms. The ‘Promenarders’ can also use the Gallery. The tour took about an hour after which most of us enjoyed lunch in their Restaurant and this gave an opportunity to chat and to meet several of our Patrons. We look forward to more visits of this kind in the future.
