In April there was a visit to Leighton House, former home of the Victoria artist Frederic, Lord Leighton and the only purpose-built studio-house open to the public in the UK.  Highlights were the extraordinary Arab Hall, the magnificent Murano Glass Chandelier and, of course, the large studio where Leighton exhibited paintings in various stages of completion and entertained celebrities of the time, including Queen Victoria.  After the visit, a delicious Persian lunch at a nearby restaurant seemed a perfect way to round off the morning.
