Steven Linden, former chairman of The London Silver Vaults, welcomed us and spoke about the history of The Vaults and the family businesses which have been there for many generations. He mentioned that nowhere in the world does a similar facility exist where there is such a concentration of silver goods and knowledge of the silver trade. We admired items ranging from large ornate table centrepieces to photograph frames, small intricate ornaments and jewellery. Needless to say a couple of small purchases were made.

A short walk to Fleet Street for some of the group who had lunch at the historic Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Pub on Fleet Street for a welcome Fish and Chips lunch (in newspaper) in The Chop Room. Watched over by one of its most famous patrons, Dr Johnson, Christine Rowlands sat on his favourite seat!
