The Joint Commonwealth Organisation (JCO) Annual Spring Event brought together members and guests from six distinguished organisations for a memorable day of culture, friendship, and celebration in London. The event reflected the spirit of collaboration and Commonwealth connection that has been at the heart of the JCO since its establishment in 2015.
Representatives attended from The Women’s Council, The Victoria League for Commonwealth Friendship, Commonwealth Girls Education Fund, Corona Worldwide, Commonwealth Countries League and The Royal Commonwealth Society (Bath & District Branch), alongside fellow JCO members and supporters. The occasion provided an excellent opportunity for guests from all six organisations to reconnect, exchange ideas, and strengthen longstanding friendships.
A highlight of the day was the visit to the Last Princesses of Punjab exhibition at Kensington Palace. The exhibition offered a fascinating and enlightening insight into the life of Punjabi princess and suffragette icon Sophia Duleep Singh, as well as the five remarkable women who shaped her extraordinary journey. Guests greatly enjoyed the exhibition, which brought to life an important chapter of British and Commonwealth history through powerful stories of courage, identity, and social change.
Following the exhibition, attendees gathered for a Chinese buffet lunch at Mandarin Kitchen. The delicious meal provided the perfect setting for relaxed conversation and fellowship, with guests from all six organisations mingling and chatting in a warm and lively atmosphere.
The luncheon also included a special tribute to Doreen Henry, General Manager at The Victoria League, who is retiring after 16 years of dedicated service. Doreen has been involved with the JCO since its founding in 2015 and has played an invaluable role in supporting its activities and fostering collaboration among member organisations. Guests expressed their appreciation for her commitment and friendship, and gifts were presented in recognition of her many years of outstanding contribution.
Adding to the joy of the occasion was the beautiful sunny weather, which made the day even more enjoyable and provided a perfect backdrop for this uplifting annual gathering. The JCO Annual Spring Event was a wonderful celebration of heritage, friendship, and shared Commonwealth values, leaving guests with many happy memories and renewed connections.
